As our next meeting approaches this coming Thursday, after a quick look back at our last meeting, I am inspired to encourage your attendance en mass. The time may be early and the outside air may hurt your face, but the food, friendship, and near frolic will be second to none at the Optimist Breakfast this coming Thursday January 18, 2018 at 61 Main Restaurant, Jasper Ga. That's 1/18/18 - Got to be good luck somewhere!

January schedule:

Thursday, January 4 - 7:00am at 61 Main - speaker is Brooke Rose telling about the Pickens County Library Summer Program

Tuesday, January 16 - PCHS Concession Stand - if you volunteered to help with this be sure to be there!

Thursday, January 18 - 7:00am at 61 Main - speaker is Gerry Nechvatal, Executive & Economic Development Director for Pickens County

Inclement weather policy:  if the schools are closed or open late because of weather we do NOT have a meeting.  On January 4 school is still not in session, so if the weather happens to be bad, do not come.

At the January and February meetings be sure to bring items for children entering foster care or being transferred to another foster home.  Items needed:  back packs; back sacks; hygiene items such as soap, shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, Chapstick, small tissue packs; combs and brushes; socks; underwear; toys and stuffed animals.  Ages of children are newborns to 18 years.

The NOW luncheon will be held on February 15 and Barbara Ress is in charge.  She needs the names and addresses from you of possible new members.  Please Email these to Barbara: trbr2234@windstream.net or hand them to her at the January meetings.

New Meeting Location

Beginning with our next meeting, January 4, the Optimist Club of Jasper will meet at 61 MainSouth Main street, in Jasper.  We will not have a meeting on Thursday, December 21 because of the holidays.  When January 4 rolls around we will all meet at 61 Main restaurant at 7:00 AM and will be meeting there for our regular meetings for the rest of the club year.  We are excited about meeting at a new place, however we will miss Jill and her son at the Lunch Box.  They are not able to host us anymore - we wish them well with their business venture.  See you January 4!

Great last meeting if you missed it! Rick Jasperse gave us a GA House update from the source and Tom DiPuma was sworn at, er, in by Susan White as the club’s second VP. I think this means that Sue, Bruce and Tom can’t be in the same place at any given time.....hmmmm

Speaker is Representative Rick Jasperse - Also at this meeting there will be an election for Second Vice President of the Jasper Club.  The Board members of the Optimist Club of Jasper have approved the nomination of Tom DiPuma for Second Vice President.  Members at the meeting will vote on this nomination.  
Come prepared! This is your chance to vote for someone else! LOL (Tom)
