OPTIMISTS AWARD TWO NEW SCHOLARSHIPS!

On June 19, the Optimist Club of Jasper awarded their first Mountain Education Charter High School Scholarship to Crystal Buckingham, daughter of Rodney and Traci Buckingham.   While Crystal attended MECHS for her senior year, she also took additional college courses at Chattahoochee Tech.  Starting this fall, Crystal will be attending North Georgia University in Dahlonega.

On July 3, the Optimist Club of Jasper awarded their first Von J. Hinton Memorial Citizenship Scholarship to Ali Lawson, daughter of Al and Terri Lawson.  Ali graduated from Pickens High School and will be attending Young Harris College this fall.  In attendance were two of Von’s daughters, Robin Brooks and Dianna Hinton.

The Optimist Club of Jasper is pleased to recognize two outstanding young students of our community who we know will be making us all proud as they continue to pursue their dreams.

The mission of the Optimist Club is “bringing out the best in kids”.  Our fundraisers throughout the year provide funding for many scholarships as well as donations to kids-oriented organizations in our community.  Like to be part of this great organization?  Guests and new members welcome.
