Optimist Club of Jasper Donations: Round Two!

The Optimist Club of Jasper continued their annual donations to Pickens County organizations at their regular meeting on August 21 at Last Catch Seafood restaurant.

Each of the organizations that receive donations from the local Optimist Club meets the mission of Optimist International of “bringing out the best in kids”.  At the first meeting of the month, five organizations received checks.  At the August 21 meeting, six additional organizations also received donations.

            Appalachian Children’s Emergency Shelter (ACES)

CARES (Community Assistance Resources and Emergency Services)

            Good Shepherd Ranch

            Joy House

Youth Enrichment Program of Pickens County

            Young Life of Pickens County

Each year the Optimist Club of Jasper holds 3 fundraisers including Pecan sales in November, the 5K Flapjack Run in April and the annual Scholarship Golf Tournament in May.  Through the hard work of the club members and the support of the community, we are able to fund many child-oriented organizations in our community plus provide scholarships and fund awards for our annual Oratorical and Essay Contests as well.

OPTIMIST CLUB OF JASPER DONATIONS: Round One!

On Thursday, August 7, five of 12 donations were awarded to local organizations that support the mission of the Optimist Club of Jasper: “Bringing out the best in kids!” These organizations provide resources and services to the children of our county and we commend them for the work that they do.  We indeed live in a Caring Community!
Money raised by the Optimist Club of Jasper throughout the year with their 3 major fundraisers:  Pecan Sales in November, the 5K Flapjack Run in April and the annual Golf Tournament in May provides funds for our annual scholarships plus money for donations to local child-oriented organizations.  Earlier this year, the club provided a donation to the Pickens County Library to fund their summer programs for children.
At this recent club meeting, the following organizations received donations from the club:
  • Boys and Girls Clubs of North Georgia
  • Hope House of North Georgia
  • Pickens Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy
  • Prevent Child Abuse/Pickens
  • Weekend Snack Program

On Thursday, August 21 the club will hold their second meeting of the month at 7:00 AM at Last Catch Seafood Restaurant when another six donations will be distributed.  Guests are very welcome as are new members.  Please join us to see the good work that the Optimist Club of Jasper does in our community.
