NOAH STAPP WINS STATE OPTIMIST ORATORICAL CONTEST
Noah Stapp, the Optimist Club of Jasper contestant, won top honors in the District (State of Georgia) Oratorical contest this past weekend in Peachtree City. Noah, a student at Dawson County Middle School, had to win four different contests and impress four different groups of judges to reach this prestigious level. First he competed at the local contest held in February at the Pickens County Library. After winning at the local level he competed at the zone level which included students from Gilmer, Cherokee, and Pickens County. After winning at the zone level he proceeded to the area level held in Cumming. These students included the Northern area of Georgia. When he won that level he proceeded to the District level where he defeated the other contestants from around the state to win the top honor. The topic that all entrants had to speak on was: “How My Optimism Will Help Me Press on to Greater Achievements of the Future”. Noah will receive a $2500 scholarship to the school of his choice after high school. Members of the Optimist Club of Jasper are extremely proud of Noah Stapp’s accomplishments and wish him much success in his future endeavors.
