The Optimist Club of Jasper made their second round of annual donations to PickensCounty organizations at their regular meeting on August 20th at Last Catch Seafood restaurant. On August 3rd, they gave donations to six local organizations that help our community and its children.
Each of the organizations that received donations from the local Optimist Club helps our club meet the mission of Optimist International of “bringing out the best in kids”. At this meeting of August 20th, seven organizations received donations:.
4-H of Pickens County
Hope House of North Georgia
North Georgia Boys and Girls Club
Weekend Snack Program
Young Life of Pickens County
Youth Enrichment Programs
Each year the Optimist Club of Jasper holds 3 fundraisers including Pecan sales in November, the 5K Flapjack Run in April and the annual Scholarship Golf Tournament in May. Through the hard work of the club members and the support of the community, we are able to fund many child-oriented organizations in our community plus provide scholarships and fund awards for our annual Oratorical and Essay Contests as well.
The Optimist Club of Jasper also sponsors the annual STAR Banquet.
